LEA New Media Exhibition: Interview with Douglas Repetto


 

Founder of the international electronic arts community events “dorkbot”, and founder/co-curator of of the robot talent show “ArtBots”, Douglas Repetto is a maker and organizer of technology and art; as well as a musician,  teacher, and an electronic artist actively involved in inventing. LEA New Media Exhibition presents Douglas Repetto who makes new “strange” things out of old things, as he describes the creating process as “thinking in terms of systems, of setting up situations and letting them play out.”

Douglas Repetto is an artist and teacher. His work, including sculpture, installation, performance, recordings, and software is presented internationally. He is the founder of a number of art/community-oriented groups including dorkbot: people doing strange things with electricity, ArtBots: The Robot Talent Show, organism: making art with living systems, and the music-dsp mailing list and website. Douglas is Director of Research at the Columbia University Computer Music Center and lives in New York City.
