Darko Fritz is a media artist, curator and graphic designer. He is trying to fill the gap between two worlds: contemporary art practice and media art culture.
His artworks make use of various materials and mediums: architectonic, organic [horticulture], public transport, electronic, traditional art mediums, communication [TV, radio, newspapers, internet, fax] ... In his artworks he often uses electronic / communication / digital techniques: photocopies and slide projections since 1984, film loops since 1987, video since 1988 [as TV virus], digital photography since 1990; fax since 1991, first attempt to webcast 1994 [Keep the frequency Clear at Triple X festival], internet since 1995 [End of the Mesasage - total archives]. In many projects or single works various mediums get mixed, as in the Cathedral project - an interactive computer- generated environment from 1988. His work is often organized in complex long-term projects [each made of several parts or phases], but he produces single art objects. He published and edited several printed and electronic publications and portfolio of prints. He wrote a first overview of media art in Croatia (since 1960s) as editor for culturenet.hr web portal (from 2002).
