Wired Blogs. Bruce Sterling is author, journalist,
editor, critic, blogger. I'm best known for writing
science fiction novels, but I like to go mess
around with all kinds of weird events, places
and issues in order to introduce some useful grit
into my compositional process.

Locative Media pundits weigh in
Mood: chatty
Now Playing: where did I put those house keys?
(((This volume sounds like it might be pretty
handy, especially if your "smart" car
is following outworn GPS tracks and you end up
mired in a swamp someplace.)))
". . . the highbrow hot spot of cyberspace
. . . a digital bible for the lowdown on the [hi-tech]
art scene." - Wired

LEA on Locative Media
July 21, 2006 | · Filed under Locative
Media
The special issue of Leonardo Electronic Almanac
on "Locative Media" (Vol. 14, Issue
3) has been released. It's a very well-documented
compilation of articles about location-based technologies
with contribution of none other than Anne Galloway
and Matt Ward, Julian Bleecker and Jeff Knowlton,
Lalya Gaye and Lars Erik Holmquist, Malcolm McCullough,
Michele Chang and Elizabeth Goodman and so forth.
What is also good is the bibliography they put
together with good resources on the topic. More
about that here when I get enough time to parse
the papers.
Why do I blog this? it gives a context to my
research on mutual-location awareness in real
space.
